Simple home remedies for sore throats, colds and coughs

Winter is the peak season for colds, sore throats and coughs. What simple home remedies are there?

Warm the milk, dissolve 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey in it and drink warm.

Prepare a tea blend with cowslip, thyme, ribwort and other herbs.

Heat 1 tablespoon of kirsch or half a glass of red wine with 1 to 3 teaspoons of sugar and drink.

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to 1 liter of cool water, mix and moisten a cloth well with it, place around the neck.

Inhale steam, with or without the addition of herbs (thyme, chamomile).

Flaxseed topping: Boil 1 cup of flaxseed with 1.5 dl of water for 5 minutes. The result is a thick paste, which is spread on two thin cloths and folded up individually. Place one on the forehead and the other over the nose area.

Cut a large onion into pieces, place in a jar and mix with 2 to 3 tablespoons of honey. Leave to stand until a syrup has formed. Take one tablespoon 3 to 4 times a day. Store in the refrigerator.

Potato wraps: Boil the potatoes with the skin on, place in a cloth and mash. Place on the chest while still warm and secure with a terry towel. Do not use too hot: The heat must be checked carefully, especially with children.

Heat some quark in a bain-marie. Then spread it on a cloth, fold it up and apply it to the chest.
