Symptoms

Chronic pain

Tingling in hands and feet, often associated with loss of motivation or depressive mood.

Acute pain

Occurs early - shooting, burning pain in the arms and legs, triggered or intensified by exertion, fever or stress.

Skin spots, so-called angiokeratomas

Small, reddish-bluish skin spots between the navel and knees, often in the pubic area.

Sweating

Disturbed sweat regulation - heat and exertion often lead to nausea, drowsiness, headaches or fainting.

Sidneys

Kidneys often severely affected - deposits can quickly lead to kidney failure, usually resulting in dialysis or transplantation.

Cardiovascular system

Thickening of the left ventricle, shortness of breath on exertion and increased risk of angina pectoris, heart attack or stroke.
